The then General Secretary of UML, Madhav Kumar Nepal, said in a program held in Kathmandu on May 2, 2051, "If a commission is not formed to investigate the Dasdhunga accident, UML will launch a nationwide movement and it will be announced that Girija Prasad is the killer of Madan-Ashrit."
In this way, UML warned that the then general secretary of the party Madan Bhandari and the head of the organization department Jivraj Ashrit who died in the Dasdhunga accident, would blame Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala for the murder. After the death of leader Bhandari and his dependents in an accident, UML had been demanding the formation of a judicial inquiry committee.
Madan-Ashrit died in a jeep accident in Dasdhunga, Chitwan on 3rd June, 2050 . Soon after Netadway's death, the government formed a one-member commission of inquiry under the chairmanship of former additional judge of the Supreme Court, Prachandaraj Anil, on May 4, 2050. UML rejected the conclusions of the accident mentioned in the report given by the commission. UML demanded the formation of a unanimous high-level empowered commission under the chairmanship of a sitting judge of the Supreme Court.
UML formed another commission of inquiry under the chairmanship of KP Sharma Oli (the current Prime Minister), a member of the party's standing committee and member of parliament, commenting that the report given by the government commission was wrong. The UML considered the issues mentioned in the report of the Anil Commission constituted by the government to be completely one-sided, misleading and untrue . In the report submitted by the Oli commission to the central committee of the party, the accidents of stewards and dependents were termed as 'planned and conspiratorial'.
In the Oli report, it was mentioned that even though the driver Amar La was the direct perpetrator of the murder, he was not the only one involved. But the full report of the Oli Commission has not been made public. According to UML leaders, they do not even know where the report is now.
A day before Madan's death anniversary, in a seminar organized by the UML Kathmandu Special Committee, the General Secretary of Nepal said that UML had suffered a great loss because it could not secure the talent of Bhandari. In the event in the presence of Madan-wife Vidya Bhandari and dependent-wife Maya Neupane, Speaker Damannath Dhungana discussed the role he played in resolving the Tanakpur Dam project dispute in the fourth session of Parliament.
UML planned to discuss Madan-Ashrit's contribution by holding various programs across the country on his death anniversary. UML had been protesting against the government for a whole year regarding their death in an accident. The UML accused the Congress government of obstructing the investigation of driver Amar Lama. There was a huge loss of wealth during the movement that took place in the year after their death.
Kantipur Dainik published news on 3rd June 2051 with the title 'UML warns of agitation across the country' covering these references. Now 32 years have passed since the death of Madan-Ashrit in an accident. But the mystery of their murder has not yet been revealed.
