The Nepali Congress, which was running the government under its own leadership after winning the majority in the general elections of 2048, was embroiled in extreme internal strife until 2051. Lately, the supreme leader of the party, Ganeshman Singh, expressed his dissatisfaction with the working style of Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and expressed his intention to separate from the Congress.
After Krishna Prasad Bhattarai was defeated in the by-election held in Kathmandu-1 on 25th January 2050, the mutual conflict deepened. Bhattarai and Ganeshman stood together against the government's activities and Koirala's decision-making process.
In this background, the supreme leader Ganeshman disclosed that he has reached the state of mind to separate from the Congress in an interview given to Kantipur on 15 Baisakh, 2051. During the interview, he complained that he was not heard even though he was speaking in favor of good governance and democracy. Ganeshman said, 'The party could not guide the government on the right path.' It was clearly understood that he was very angry and aggressive towards Prime Minister Koirala.
He expressed his extreme displeasure with Prime Minister Koirala's working style saying that he believes that people should do good work after being elected. He also expressed the opinion that the question of morality has arisen after the court called the Tanakpur agreement a treaty saying that he would save the democracy rather than saving the prime minister .
'There were many people who advised me that I should quit party politics after 2046 . But I used to say to them, 'Be it lame, deaf or crippled - this is the Congress which brought democracy by protesting 2-2 times and also defends it.' But he said that his words were not heard in the party. During the
interview, he said that if this situation continues, he will not be able to support the Congress in the upcoming elections. Mainly, he raised the issue of Girija Prasad's style of work and that he was insulted in the party. In the essence of the interview, his anger was towards Koirala. In the interview focusing on grievances, anger and momentum, he also claimed that Congress is becoming unpopular day by day.
Commander Singh of the political movement of 2046 was once called 'Father of Democracy'. On the night of Chait 26, 2046, when King Birendra proposed the Prime Minister of the interim government, he rejected it and put forward Santaneta Bhattarai . Why did Ganeshman intend to separate from the Congress? How was the internal strife created within the Congress? What did Ganeshman want? What was his dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Koirala? Where did the protesting parties fail in the institutional development of democracy?
A long interview with Ganeshman Singh conducted by journalist Taranath Dahal in search of answers to these and countless similar questions was published by Kantipur on 15 Baisakh 2051 under the title 'Democracy minus ethics'.
