After the political change of 2046, it was three years since the formation of the elected government of the Nepali Congress. Ever since the formation of the government, an unnatural conflict was raging between the Congress led by Girija Prasad Koirala and the main opposition UML. UML was in constant street struggle against the Koirala government.

On the occasion of the 45th annual celebration of Nepal Communist Party, UML Kathmandu Special Regional Committee organized a program on 9 Baisakh, 2050 against the high cost and interference of Indian police.

In the same event, Manmohan Adhikari, the main opposition leader in the House of Representatives and the then president of the UML, accused the Congress of being pro-Indian and said that the fight within that party was not about principles but for chairs, commissions and money, and they would not stop the street struggle until this problem was resolved.

2050 On 3rd June 2050, UML's then general secretary Madan Bhandari and Jivraj Ashrit, head of the organization department, died in a jeep accident in Dasdhunga, Chitwan. The UML formed an inquiry commission under the chairmanship of party leader KP Sharma Oli and said that it was not an accident but a conspiracy. UML was protesting on the streets and in the House especially against the ruling Congress and the Koirala-led government for neglecting to investigate the incident.

After the parliamentary elections of 2048, UML, which was in the role of the main opposition, was continuing the street movement against the government. Therefore, in that program, the presiding officer said, "We have not left the road, the road is our base, the road politics will become the center of our politics". If not, we are ready to go to the streets a thousand times.'

UML President also accused Prime Minister Koirala of not having moral and democratic conduct and Congress Party Chairman Krishna Prasad Bhattarai as having no courage and courage. He said that a chaotic party like Congress is running the country and said that such a party cannot save democracy. The official also accused Congress of not being loyal to democracy and not committed to principles.
