At that time i.e. till the 50s, the shortest main road connecting the Terai was only the Tribhuvan Rajpath (Biroad's road). Going from Mungling to East Terai was quite a detour. As an alternative to that, the dream of building the Kathmandu-Pharping-Hetaunda road, which was started by the people's representatives at that time, was not easy.
A dirt road was being operated from Hetaunda to Kulekhani. Few parts of Makwanpur and many parts of Kathmandu area were not built. A high-level construction committee was formed under the chairmanship of the then Assistant Transport Minister Shivraj Joshi to speed up the construction of the road to Kathmandu.
Especially after the construction of this road, the distance from Kathmandu to Hetaunda will be reduced by about 54 km compared to the Tribhuvan Rajpath. After constructing the road from Pharping to Kulekhani Sukouradyam, Sursaram was local to connect it with the road coming from Hetaunda. 25 km unpaved road from Pharping to Humane Bhanjyang towards Hetaunda had been prepared.
According to Mohan Basnet, the chairman of the construction committee and the former chairman of Dudechaur talku, Farping Sukouradyam section was being constructed with the help of Road Plan International and Kathmandu District Development Committee. The construction of this road was started in the year 2049 under the leadership of President Basnet, the then member of JVS Rajendra KC (currently member of the House of Representatives) and others.
The technicians said that road construction will be cheaper and faster because there are less landslides and there is no need to build bridges. At that time, Plan International helped to build the road, which was made as an alternative to Prithvi Highway and Tribhuvan Highway.
It was decided to speed up the work by holding a meeting in coordination with the then Construction and Transport Minister Khum Bahadur Khadka. It was 133 km from Kathmandu to reach Hetaunda via Tribhuvan Rajpath. But even though the road is not completely paved, it is very busy. Although it is only 79 km from Kathmandu to reach Hetaunda via Pharping, this road is used a lot to save time.
Regarding the readiness shown by the government, local representatives and common people regarding the construction of a short distance road connecting the Terai, the news prepared by journalist Taranath Dahal was published by Kantipur Daily on 23 February 2050 under the title "Kathmandu-Hetaunda short road construction speedy". The road, which has been under construction since then, has not been fixed even now. However, especially small vehicles are operating through Kathmandu-Hetounda.
