The problem of the extent to which candidates can believe the assurances given to voters in elections is not only a problem now, it was the same before. 31 years ago today, Congress candidate Krishna Prasad Bhattarai announced in one of his campaign meetings on 13th January, 'If I am elected, I will turn Kathmandu Region No. 1 into a piece of gold.'

Be it the political leadership party after the change of 2046 or the Maoists who came from the armed rebellion - all of them announced that Nepal would be made into Singapore. Going one step further than that, there was a discussion in the political circles that Bhattarai had said that.

After being defeated in the parliamentary elections of 2048, Bhattarai again became a candidate in the by-elections of 2050 from Kathmandu Region No. 1.

Bhattarai was defeated in the parliamentary elections of 2048 by Madan Bhandari, the then general secretary of UML, who died in a Dasdhunga accident. At that time, in the election in which he was defeated, he also competed in the by-election of 2050 with Madan's wife Vidya Bhandari. In the election meeting held in the Buddhist area of ​​Kathmandu, Bhattarai also asked to appreciate his contribution for democracy. 

He said that the panchayat system has collapsed recently and because he spent his life in struggle, the values ​​of democracy could not be developed under the political leadership. He also expressed his surprise that Panchs themselves called themselves nationalists and democrats by saying that they had given democracy to those who believed in the independent system. He said that the problem of Takanpur is a problem created by the Panchayat.

He said that even when he was the Prime Minister, the issue of Tanakpur came up, and now the issue has become a problem for Prime Minister Girija Prasad. He also said that the Panchas should take responsibility for this. Regarding the agreement made by Girija Prasad with India, especially the left-wing parties including the UML started a movement from the House to the streets. Adding the same reference, Bhattarai said that Tanakpur is an old problem.
