[Archive] How did Kathmandu Valley become the most polluted city in Asia?

In the last two weeks of March, Kathmandu Valley was in the news as the most polluted city in the world. According to IQ Air, which measures the quality of air, the Air Quality Index of Vayu has shown such a situation.

Not only the Kathmandu Valley, this time the markets and villages around the country were also covered by cold and pollution spread . According to a study in 2078, the air pollution of Kathmandu Valley was considered a great threat to health. The main reason for high pollution in Kathmandu is the smoke and dust emitted from vehicles and roads.

Compared to before, brick kilns from the valley have decreased a lot, while the use of electric vehicles has also increased . But pollution caused by dusty roads and old vehicles has not stopped.

The government has taken 1 rupee 50 paise from every liter of diesel and petrol sold. Even though the government is collecting money from consumers for petrol and diesel under the title of pollution control, the money collected should be invested in the study, research, prevention and control of environmental pollution. However, the government agency does not know where, why and how the money is being spent.

The issue of pollution in Kathmandu Valley is not the only one raised now. It seems that the government is responsible for this problem from three decades ago. Because, this problem was seen three decades ago .

In the 50s, studies showed that especially old vehicles produced more pollution. A study conducted by researchers at the Denver Remote Sensing Institute in Kathmandu in August 2050 revealed that Kathmandu has the highest level of vehicular pollution in Asia. A study has shown that after Mexico City, Kathmandu has more vehicle pollution.

A report was published that carbon oxide hydrocarbon pollution is more in Kathmandu Valley. During the study, a sample of 5,737 vehicles in Kathmandu Valley was tested. According to

news organization AP, the smoke from taxis and public buses increased the most pollution. In the news published by AP citing American environmentalists, public vehicles have made Kathmandu Valley sick.

According to Donald H. Statement, a chemist at the Remote Sensing Institute of the University of Denver in Colorado, vehicles in Kathmandu emit 5 times more smoke than those in Hong Kong. About the pollution in Kathmandu Valley, on 12th August 2050, Kantipur Dainik published a news under the title "Kathmandu is the most polluted city in Asia".
