After the change of 2046, there was a belief that the communist parties also believe in party competitive politics. Madan Kumar Bhandari was a popular leader who led the establishment of CPN-UML as a democratic party.

He passed the theoretical concept of UML's political path as 'people's multi-party democracy' at the party's convention. He carefully considered the background of the collapse of the communist regime in the countries of the world, including Russia and East Germany, and thought of developing the UML as a democratic party.

Bhandari, who was established as a powerful orator and a skilled organizer, defeated the then party chairman of the Nepali Congress and the incumbent prime minister of the interim government, Krishna Prasad Bhattarai, in the parliamentary elections of 2048. After defeating Bhattarai from Kathmandu's parliamentary constituency number 1, his popularity increased even more.

Because, at that time, to point the finger at the king was considered to be very brave . He used to listen to the opposition in the meetings where he spoke. We were curious about what Madan Bhandari will say today.

On 3rd June 2050 at 6.15 in the evening, the telephone rang at UML central office from Chitwan Narayanghat. General Secretary Bhandari's driver Amar Lama called. He said over the phone that the vehicle in which Jivraj Ashrit, the head of Bhandari and Organization Department was riding, fell into Trishuli. He told a brief description of the incident saying that the steward and the dependent also got swept away in the river. But he also said that he did not know the detailed situation of the two leaders.

[Archive] That telephone ring at 6.15 am at the UML office in Bagbazar, Kathmandu The driver Lama said that when he reached Dasdhunga from Mungling towards Narayanghat, the vehicle went out of control and fell into the Trishuli . He informed the party office that he was going to Bharatpur Hospital in Chitwan for treatment. At that time, there was no mobile phone in hand like it is now. "Landline" telephones were also not available except in the main market. All the information had to be taken from the police .

Before Lama called, there was a rumor of a jeep accident at the party around 6 o'clock. A crowd of party leaders and workers from the valley had gathered at the UML central office. But the official notification of the accident was received only after Lama called.

Bhandari and dependents went there on 2nd May 2050 to inaugurate the Kaski District Conference in Pokhara. After returning from Pokhara, the jeep fell into the river while going to the National Workers Meeting of All Nepal Women's Association to be held at Chainpur Jamire in Chitwan.

There was a program to present a working paper titled "Women's Responsibilities in Politics" by Secretary General Bhandari at the gathering. On the way to Chitwan, the Bhandari and the dependent went from Mungling to Narayanghat in the same jeep at around 4.40 on the 3rd, the police informed.

Driver Lama UML was the secretary and driver of the Kathmandu-Tanahun Liaison Committee. The said jeep belonged to UML . The news of the jeep falling into Trishuli spread across the country in one/two hours. Not only the UML leaders-activists, but also the people of the country found it difficult to believe the news of the accident. The pain of losing two leaders including Bhandari, who reached the peak of discussion and popularity, could be heard everywhere. As it was night, I was confused about what to do now.

More than two hundred leaders-activists, including Sahna Pradhan, Jagrat Prasad Vetwal, Ashtalakshmi Shakya, reached the scene of the incident immediately and started searching. On the other hand, leaders and activists reached the incident site under the leadership of UML leader Amrit Kumar Bohra by taking two buses from Kathmandu. A squad of volunteers was also sent to Dasdhunga under the leadership of the then General Secretary of the All Nepal Trade Union Federation, Bishnu Rimal.

Lama, the driver, told the then reporter of Kantipur in Chitwan that the jeep went out of control and fell into the river. The Lama informed that when the jeep was about to fall, the Bhandari and dependents shouted, "What happened, what happened?" He said that after being washed away by the river, one person waved his hand in the water but could not be rescued. According to Lama, General Secretary Bhandari was sitting in the first seat wearing a seat belt. He also claimed that he was rescued by 3-4 fishermen. There was no injury anywhere on Lama's body. He used to say that his head and chest hurt.

Government machinery and party workers were mobilized in search of leaders in Trishuli. But the search was not effective because it was night. It will be 32 years since two popular leaders of UML drowned in the Trishuli on May 3. Driver Amar Lama also came out after spending some time in prison. He was later shot dead in Kathmandu.

After the death of the driver Lama, the cause of the death of the servant and dependent became more mysterious . It is not yet certain whether the incident was an accident or a murder. It is not left to question the leadership of UML by adding the story of their murder from time to time . But the research is almost finished. The news prepared by journalists Ravi Adhikari, Ramesh KC, Srikrishna Adhikari and Mahendraraj Shrestha on the issue of the jeep carrying the steward and dependents falling into Trishuli was published by Kantipur on 4th June 2050 as the main news of the first page.
