Neurologist Dr. He is also the best translator. He has translated Chinese literature into Nepali.

Recently, the stories and novels of Nobel-winning writer Mo Yan, which he translated, have been published in Nepali. Previously, he has published four books on contemporary Chinese literature. Conversations with the same translator Shrestha for the regular column five questions of E-Kantipur:

What book did you read last time?

Since I have translated Chinese literature, I am reading mostly Chinese literature . Recently, I read science fiction 'Three Buddies'. I read that too for translation. Recently, two months ago, I read the anthology 'Sani Chari Chiro Geet'. This is also by a Chinese author.

was also intended for Nepali translation. I have translated 'Three Buddies' as 'Three Objects' in Nepali . It used to be said that Chinese writers are not that good at science fiction. This book has changed that situation. This fiction has been translated into many languages, including English, and has hit the world market. called

, no matter how much Chinese literature was translated into foreign languages in the 70 years since 1949, even if we add up all the numbers, the translated copy of one book is not enough. It has succeeded in bringing a wave around the world. Chinese officials had long ago asked to translate science fiction into Nepali. But I was not able to do my various tasks due to busyness. But this time I completed .

Your favorite fiction?

China's four fictions are considered historical. I have read this work not only as a literary work but also as a study material for Chinese culture and philosophy. A Dream of the Red Castle, A Tale of Three Countries, A Journey to the West and A Tale of Rebels. The fiction I have been reading for a long time is .

In China, stories and narratives developed much later. Five years ago, the story began to be written . While writing the story, he wrote in his own style by including various aspects of the society. All four novels are like an encyclopedia of the society at the time they were created.

Your favorite nonfiction ?

There is Taoism in China . Its original text 'Tao Te Ching' is among the non-fiction I have read many times . Some call it a philosophical work, some call it a literary work . While some have also said military science . It's not too big either . Five thousand Chinese characters . It is divided into 81 chapters.

It's a new experience every time you read it. Its ideas are different from the previous ideas . We say that the strong will win, but in Tao Te Ching, the weak will win. Water is the softest but it gives the unique idea that it can pierce even stone .

A character in a story that made a huge impression on you?

The main characters of the four novels I just mentioned have a lovable side . Chinese readers don't like the original character that much . But the readers did not like the original character so much because of the old caste philosophy and values in their minds and how they deal with that situation. But maybe because I have thought about it for decades, I think the original character is somehow understandable.

Book recommendation for the new generation ?

Since I have not read much literature in other languages, I will only talk about Chinese language literature . The four historical novels I just mentioned should be read by Nepali readers. These books have been translated into English. All the four novels are big . If all the four novels are to be translated into Nepali, it will take up to 10,000 pages.
