I have a small microphone on my motorcycle. It has a recording of my voice saying, ”Fresh organic Tamghas mushrooms have arrived.” I walk around playing that voice. Hearing my voice, people come out of their homes to buy mushrooms.

After finding no other solution in the country, I went abroad to earn money. It has been 12 years since I returned from abroad. I have been living in Saudi Arabia for 6 years and have returned. Now it has been 10 years since I came to Tamghas and started earning a living. It has been good since I came here and started selling mushrooms.
I worked in a bakery for a long time. The salary was also good. I found the bakery work tedious and quit. I didn't do anything in between. Later, I started selling mushrooms to make a living. Which has been good.
I am now 41 years old. My home is in Khordhara, Malarani Rural Municipality-3, Arghakhanchi. I have been moving to Tamghas, the headquarters of Gulmi, since I was young. That is why I now live here.
Now, I have been going from Tamghas to villages to sell mushrooms and fish. I sell Dalle mushrooms, Radhe mushrooms and Parale mushrooms. I get 20 percent of the amount I sell. That's how much profit I make. I earn 30/35 thousand per month from this. I spend 10/15 thousand on motorcycle expenses and food and snacks. Now I go to some places in Gulmi district, Arghakhanchi and Baglung to sell mushrooms and fish. I have some regular customers.
Parale mushrooms are sold for 300 rupees per kilo. Fish is sold for 500 rupees per kilo. Dalle mushrooms and Radhe mushrooms cost 500 rupees per kilo. There are parents, two sons and a wife at home. They all live in the village. 20/25 thousand rupees per month covers all household expenses.
The money I earn is spent to survive. There are two buffaloes and 10 goats at home, and some local chickens. Even if I don't have an income after staying at home, this is normal. Sometimes small expenses at home are also met from this. I spend when there are big expenses. After working, I don't have to worry about small expenses.
I cover a distance of 80 kilometers carrying around 40 kg of goods every day. Everyone feels sad while working. It is sad to have to travel far on a motorcycle in the cold weather. It is not impossible. But even if it is sad, you have to work to make a living. You can cover your household expenses by deducting the cost of a motorcycle, petrol and breakfast. You can say that you are making a living. You can earn all day and eat in the evening.
I reach Gulmi and Arghakhanchi including Burtibang in Baglung. I reach places like Shantipur, Purkot Daha, Hadhade, Sautamare, Simaltari, Khandaha, Arkhabang and Wamitaksar to sell mushrooms. I carry around 40 kg of goods every day. I have to cover a distance of 80 kilometers every day.
There are no people in the village. People are found in Melomeso. People are not found before and after. 1/2 people are found. It is rare to find people other than the elderly in the village. Sometimes it is difficult to sell. You have to walk behind a motorcycle with a cart. Traffic says you can't put a cart. But you have to work to eat.
It is right to follow the rules. But you can't even go hungry by following the rules. You don't have the financial capacity to buy a big vehicle and walk around selling. That's why I say let them carry it on the motorcycle like this. Sometimes, when they are uncomfortable, they let them go after explaining their happiness and sorrow.
Clothes and food are not such a big expense. However, you have to wear warm clothes in the cold weather. It is normal to spend money on it. It is the same abroad. I have also worked abroad. There was no real progress . I only felt sad . I thought I would do something in Nepal . Even though I can't do anything special like that, I am making a living by doing ordinary work .
I have placed a small microphone in front of my motorcycle . In which my voice is recorded saying, 'Fresh organic Tamghas mushrooms have arrived' . I walk around playing that voice . After hearing my voice, people come out of their homes to buy mushrooms . This is how my retail business is going .
