Due to teachers' protest, Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality has suspended the teaching of both community and institutional schools.
As there is an academic calendar that starts teaching from Monday, the Metropolitan Municipality has requested all the schools through a notification on Sunday to start from Baisakh 11. "...Due to the lack of time to manage the admissions and other infrastructure of schools, this notice has been published to all those who have not been scheduled for regular teaching from Thursday 11 Baisakh, 2082," the notice said.
Hemprasad Acharya, head of the educational administration division of the metropolitan city, said that due to the possibility of students being affected due to the lack of teachers in some schools, the teaching has been postponed until Baisakh 11. He said that their aim is to start teaching in institutional and community schools at the same time. "It is said that education will start after enrolling in an institutional school, but after enrolling in a public school and education will be affected, it will be conducted on the same day to see if the child will be mentally affected," he said. We have notified if anything will happen if we delay 2/3.'
Most of the institutional schools in Pokhara have completed the admission campaign. Since the lack of teachers will affect the public school taking admissions, the teaching has been suspended.
There are 198 community and 175 institutional schools in Pokhara. According to the 081 data of the Educational Administration Division, about 144 thousand students are studying in those schools from nursery to class 12.
