Theater has become an integral part of my life. It has been 10-11 years since I started my theater journey. Now I am associated with Shilpi Theatre. We are preparing for a play called 'Lost and Found'.

However, my journey was not theater oriented from the beginning. She did not come to Kathmandu to learn theater. I came to Kathmandu during the Maoist conflict. When the schools were closed. It's like I didn't know anything about drama.

I planned to learn computer after completing SLC. That's what I said at home. But after being scolded, I went to the dance class. He saw his friends learning acting in class. They asked me to learn acting. Took a three month course. That's where I first got the chance to learn about acting, navaras, character building etc. During that training, I joined Shilpi Theatre. Coincidentally, I became a student of the first batch of Shilpi.

After entering Shilpi Theatre, I began to understand theater in depth. What is theater? What effect can it have on society? I realized how much can be expressed through it. Shilpi practices both open stage and closed stage. The open theater experience helped me reach different communities, understand linguistic diversity, gain awareness about gender discrimination and directly study various problems existing in society.  My inclination towards

theater deepened with time. Then I started to think of it as a profession. Now I look at the participation of new artists, many young people do not want to be involved. Some come to it out of interest. However, due to parental pressure, they cannot continue. I see the interest of many in the younger generation declining. There is a strong tendency to become depressed within a short period of time. Drama is not a popular profession. Many parents want their children to become doctors, engineers, not artists. Society thinks like that. Again, many young people want to become famous quickly, they expect to get big jobs after two or three months of learning. Theater is a long journey art.

drama is not easy to embrace professionally. As soon as I do drama, the family and society ask me, 'Where do you earn money from?' It is difficult to even say that drama is a profession for me. It is even more difficult for women. You should be able to understand that you can earn a living from this profession. Must be persistent. People who have made acting a profession are still questioned by the society as to 'can you live from it?'.

However, a stable future is not guaranteed in any profession, isn't it? Although it is difficult to fully adopt theater as a profession due to the fear of economic instability, there are many opportunities within it. For example, expertise in dance, music, writing and directing can be developed. I managed to graduate in dance. This gave me the opportunity to teach dance along with drama. Additional skills such as theater design, music, lighting, stage management, props and costume design can give the artist an alternative resource. Many artists are also earning from playwriting or acting training.

If we can understand this, theater can also be established as a stable profession. Although you have to worry financially, if you can work properly, you can become independent from this. Parents should understand the wishes of their children and understand that drama is also a profession. In our society, there is an increased attraction towards works that are viral and famous. Drama or theater is a bit of a long journey. If you continue and be patient, there is a possibility of making a future in this field.

theater is not just a place to act. It is a means of understanding society. As such, theater facilitates education. Dramas have been staged in various schools, which make students' learning more effective.

theater is self-realization. I learned to know myself, to understand my feelings and to understand society through theatre. It is a means of understanding the society as a whole, the surrounding environment and oneself. Theater is a weapon against social discrimination. Theater helps to understand sexuality, linguistic diversity and various social issues. Watching the play means understanding the different sections of the society. A key aspect needed to make the

drama more effective is its promotion in the digital age. Currently we are in the digital age, but the use of digital medium in theater is minimal. Theater workers should think about how they can 'sell' their plays through digital platforms. If digital marketing can be used properly, the influence of theater can spread further.

It is difficult to take the drama outside Kathmandu. Many places don't have theaters at all. There are few people who understand, watch and are interested in drama. However, when we go to show plays outside the capital, the experience is different from that in the capital. The audience there come to watch the play, see and interact with the events of their lives. Being like a mirror of the society, drama becomes a medium to reflect them. There is no immediate change, but we find that the audience starts debating the issues of the play when they return home. The future of

theater depends on the understanding of society. Only when society realizes the need for drama, its future is secured. Now many theaters in Kathmandu are closing down. Who will take responsibility in this situation? What is the state policy? Such questions are serious. Most actors who come to study

theater don't last long. They come to learn, they leave after a while. Those who are desperate for success look for big achievements after completing the three-month course. However, to be a good artist requires patience and persistence.

There are also areas that theater has not covered so far. For the LGBTQ community, theater still does not offer enough opportunities for people with disabilities. Gender struggles still persist for female artists. Society still looks at women artists based on traditional thinking. Even in drama, female characters are always seen as innocent characters. It is important to bring strong roles of women in the drama.

theater has taught me to know myself. In our society, girls are brought up with the idea of 'going to someone else's house'. But, theater taught me to make my own dream path. I want to make my mark and inspire others. Theater is not only a medium of acting, it is a medium of understanding life, understanding society and knowing oneself. This journey will have a deep meaning for anyone who is into theatre. Which is not just to be famous, but will help you find yourself.

theater is becoming more comfortable for the next generation.

is an open platform for anyone who wants to showcase their skills. Theater can be expanded by adopting digital medium using new technology. It is an opportunity for the new generation to come up with ideas of how drama can be given a new look, how different ideas can be presented through the digital platform. The next generation should be able to focus on how theater can be effectively presented in the digital world and not just limited to the stage.

theater is a medium of creative expression. Where there is an idea, this is the place to implement it. In particular, our historical narratives, traditional values and time-honoured culture have not been sufficiently represented in the theatre. The new generation can expose these themes through drama. Contemporary context can be presented while reviving history. Theater can be brought to a wider audience with the help of digital media. Who can make it not just a means of entertainment, but an effective tool of cultural preservation and change.

theater is not just a place to act, it is a destination to live life in a new way. Acting is not just about speaking dialogues. It is the art of making the character's feelings, thoughts and environment come alive.
