Our film industry is not sustainable. It's hard to make a living working full time on it. Because our market is small. If we do commercial work, the only place to sell it is the hall. There is no other place. There is also a lot of competition to drive in the hall. For that, you have to work in a feature film or you have to work in a lead role.

You can survive in this area only if you can operate according to that. Most of the funding comes from outside when doing documentaries or other cutting edge work. You can survive if you work with outside help

. For that, if I work today, it doesn't mean that I will live tomorrow. You have to establish yourself in the long run. Time should be given. But right now it is difficult to say that I make a living by making documentaries. Who will pay to make a documentary? Now, if it is made by spending your own money, where will you bring it to sell? There is no market. Made it, watched it, took it to 2/4 festivals, that's it. No income. It cannot be done like this. 

Now if you work only as a crew, many films are being made. Even when working like this. But those who work in some films don't get any money. Even those who get it don't get paid on time. It does not develop a work environment. Also kills creation. 

There is hope even in the midst of despair. If you continue to look at the good side, you can get many opportunities that can be established. Now there is a lot of technical work. There are less people working in it. As there are limited people, one person is busy in many places. Because of that, the filmmaker has to wait. 

lights, sound technicians, production design and many more technical things come up. There are few people who work and have knowledge in all these. There is no dearth of work if you technically qualify yourself and gain experience. Now a lot of films are being made. Going into production like two a week.  There is a situation where the head of the department and a person with the ability to do digital making should be brought in from outside. Usually only people who work on the ground are taken from here. Even if you are working, there are not enough opportunities for proper budgeting, computer work, international work and learning. In the beginning, you have to spend money on yourself. It will be easier if Film Development Board starts giving workshops for capacity and skill development. 

Technology is developing every day in the world. That is why it is difficult for us to compete internationally. At least if you keep yourself competent by learning, you can get an opportunity. 

My home is Dharan. I was worried about what to do after my studies. Worked in Dharan's magazine 'Blast Khabar'. After completing SLC, I studied and worked in class 11. From there I started journalism. I was from a normal family. It was taught in the family that one should study and work. The experience he had while walking by imbibing the same idea was about our society, how to fight against it, how to speak. When the name started appearing in the news, people started to recognize it. Then I started to feel that I can tell my stories from here. 

I came to Kathmandu from Dharan and worked as a trainee in a radio station. I worked there for two years. Then I realized that this is not the field I thought it would be. What I did didn't seem to have an effect. I was confused about what to do next. Then I started working in television. Learned film production. From there, I slowly started making travel shows, going on my own, getting everywhere. At that time, I started learning from zero how to make a program, plan, write a script, how to work in post production after shooting.

I have learned work through 'learning by doing'. After I started working in post production, I gradually started working in television shows, reality show production and direction. After starting freelancing for a long time, I started working in an international production house. After that, I experienced how work is done not only in the country but also abroad. After spending 10 years like this, I finally started my Shanta Nepali Production House. Where there are not only me, but also other people. Currently there are 4 employees. I always give preference to women. A lot of work has come from my production house. But as a director himself, he worked in the beginning because of the 'caste question'. Its first and second seasons are on YouTube. Then I made a documentary about how climate change is causing changes in the mountains. Apart from that there are others in the lineup. 

It is difficult even for boys to establish and survive in this field. A girl is 2/3 times harder than that. Most of the crew members are boys when working. That is why women also fall under hepai ​​(dominance). To put it more creatively, girls are given less priority. But some directors have also come to break it. But the environment is not comfortable for girls to work.  While speaking

, in some cases, they speak in a hurry and use languages ​​in the same way. If someone speaks well to one person, the rumor will spread throughout the set. There are even conversations about the character on set.
