Trump says: I don't need international law

What you should know

US President Donald Trump has said he does not want international law. In an interview with the New York Times, President Trump said that only 'morality' can stop him.

Trump said during the interview , 'I don't need international law. The only thing that can stop me is my own morality, my own mind.' He further said, 'I don't want to make people unhappy.'

Similarly, when asked by the New York Times whether he needs to follow international law, he said, 'I do.' But he did not stop there, 'It depends on your definition of international law.'

According to the New York Times, during the interview, Trump was studying various options regarding the acquisition of Greenland. At the same time, he also emphasized the importance of ownership. During the interview, he said, 'Ownership is very important.' I think it is a mental requirement to achieve success. I think ownership gives you things that you can't get through a contract or a lease. Ownership gives you things and elements that you can't get just by signing a piece of paper.'

Trump also rejected the idea that his decision to remove Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro could set a precedent for China taking over Taiwan and Russia taking over Ukraine. Trump also accused Maduro of sending 'gang members' to the United States to justify the attack on Venezuela.

'It was a real threat. You didn't see people being massacred in China. You didn't see drugs being smuggled into China. All the bad things that we've seen haven't happened there. Taiwan's prisons are open and people haven't even come to China. No criminals have even gone to Russia,' Trump said.

Trump said he didn't believe Chinese President Xi Jinping would take over Taiwan. He added, 'That's up to him, what he does. But I said I wouldn't be happy if he did.' I hope he doesn't do that.'
