Time frame of three months for Svedash's return
Qatar has given an amnesty to migrant workers who do not have a residence card to return to their country within three months. They will not have to pay a fine to the Qatari government or stay in a repatriation center (deportation center) while returning home.
According to the notification issued by the Ministry of Interior of Qatar on Sunday, the workers who have not been issued, expired or not renewed their resident identity card will be allowed to return to their country.
It has not been clearly disclosed whether the worker can create an identity card with the approval of another employer or not. In the amnesty that was announced earlier, the workers were given the option to return home or stay in the queue due to their legal status.
This system of being able to return home without a place has been implemented since Sunday (January 27). To return home, workers can contact the Search and Follow-up Department at Salwa Road or Hamad International Airport from 1 pm to 9 pm.
The Nepali Embassy is going to facilitate for the workers of their country who will get amnesty. According to the Nepali Embassy, there is no accurate data of Nepali workers living in Qatar in violation of the residency law.
