The District Security Committee has formed an inquiry committee under the coordination of the Assistant Chief District Officer to submit a report within 10 days.
A five-member investigation committee has been formed under the coordination of the Assistant Chief District Officer of Kailali to investigate the clash between prisoners in the Kailali District Jail that resulted in the death of one person and injuries to more than 47 people on Friday night.
The District Security Committee meeting held on Saturday morning formed an investigation committee under the coordination of Assistant Chief District Officer Kiran Joshi with DSP Rajkumar Singh of Nepal Police, DSP Janakraj Pant of Armed Police, Investigation Officer Dipendra Singh and Administrative Officer of District Administration Office Shivraj Joshi as Member Secretary. According to the district administration office, the
committee has been asked to investigate the incident and submit a report within 10 days.
Kailali prison is tense at the moment. A large number of security personnel including armed police have been deployed in the prison. Preliminary information has been received that there is a daily clash between the two groups regarding the transfer of prisoners.
Meanwhile, 40-year-old Bharat Chaudhary of Dhangadhi was killed and 47 other prisoners were injured in the clash that took place at midnight on Friday.
The injured are being treated at Seti Provincial Hospital and three people are being treated in the ICU as their condition is critical, security sources said. There are more than 700 prisoners in Kailali prison with a capacity of 150 people.
