Jai Prithvi Highway has been blocked due to landslides after continuous rains. Traffic across the district has been affected after the only highway connecting Bajhang with other districts was closed.

Jai Prithvi Highway has been blocked due to landslides in Jalebagar and Tamail after huge stones fell from the road. Landslide of Jalebagar is being removed using excavators.

In Tamil, the Chief District Officer Vishwamitra Kuinkel informed that due to the fall of large stones that cannot be removed by machines, an alternative solution is being sought.

'Because of the stones falling on the road, it was not possible to remove them using machines,' he said, 'we are trying to use a bigger machine.' Since the onset of monsoon, the Jai Prithvi highway has been blocked every day due to landslides.

It has been raining continuously since Thursday afternoon in Bajhang. Due to continuous rains, the level of Seti River has also started to rise, so the Disaster Management Committee has issued a warning notice.

The district administration office has requested people living around the Seti river and its tributaries to be alert as there is a danger of flooding as the river level rises. The river level monitoring website of the Department of Water and Meteorology reported that the water level in the Seti River has increased by three meters at 12:20 PM.

Locals have said that other branch roads of Bajhang district have also been blocked due to floods that came with the rain. Dozens of roads in Mashta, Surma, Khaptadchanna, Bungal, Thalara and other municipalities were blocked and traffic was affected.
