Saturday's Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings was canceled due to rain. After winning the toss, Punjab scored 201 runs after losing 4 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs.

After Priyansh Arya and Prabhasimran Singh added 120 runs in 12 overs for the first wicket, Punjab scored well. Arya scored 69 with 8 fours and 4 sixes in 35 balls and Singh scored 83 runs in 49 balls with 6 fours and 6 sixes. Glenn Maxwell was out for 7 and Marco Janssen for 3 runs. Captain Shreyas Iyer scored 25 off 16 balls and Josh English scored 11 runs off 6 balls.

In response, Kolkata scored 7 runs for no loss in 1 over, as thunder and rain drenched the Eden Gardens and there was no further play. Sunil Narine was on 4 and Rahmanullah Gurbaz on 1 when the game was stopped. After this result, Punjab has overtaken Mumbai Indians to the fourth position.

Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are in the top three positions, have the same 12 points. Punjab has reached 11 points. Mumbai and Lucknow Supergiants are fifth and sixth respectively with 10 points each. After playing 9 matches, Kolkata is in seventh place with 7 points. The team's chances of making the playoffs by staying in the top four have become difficult.
