Punjab Kings beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 5 wickets at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Friday was reduced to 14 overs due to rain. It started two hours late.

Targeting a low score, Punjab won the match with 11 balls to spare. Nehal Wadhera played an aggressive innings to win the team. Coming at number five, he hit 3 sixes and 3 fours in 19 balls and scored 33 runs. Opener Priyans Arya scored 16 runs with 1 four and 1 six and Prabhasimran Singh scored 13 runs with 2 fours. Captain Shreyas Iyer scored 7 runs off 10 balls. Marcus Stoinis hit a six to score the winning run. Josh Hazlewood of RCB took 3 wickets. He has taken 12 wickets in this IPL season.

In the previous match, while defending 111 runs, Punjab restricted Kolkata Knight Riders to 95 runs. Punjab won the fifth game in seven matches and climbed to the second position with 10 points. RCB remain fourth with 8 points.

RCB made a poor score at home. The team scored 95 runs in 14 overs losing 9 wickets. Only Tim David's half century was worth watching. RCB, who lost 7 wickets in 42 runs, was picked up by David. He hit 5 fours and 3 sixes while scoring 50 runs off 26 balls. Only 21 runs came out of his bat in the last over. Apart from David, Rajat Patidar's 23 runs were notable for RCB. He hit 1 four and 1 six off 18 balls. Punjab's Arshdeep Singh, Marco Jason, Yuzvendra Chahal and Harpreet Brar took 2 each and Javier Bratlet took 1 wicket.
