After young spinner Naren Saud took 5 wickets, Sudurpaschim Royals defeated Kathmandu Gurkhaz by 73 runs in Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket. Gurkhaz, who came with a target of 168 runs, was bowled out for 94 runs in 15.5 overs.

 

Left-arm spinner Saud, who arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday after playing the ACC U-19 Asia Cup in UAE, took 5 wickets with 19 runs in 3.5 overs. He took his last 4 wickets in the space of 11 balls . 

Avinash Bohra took 1 maiden in 3 overs for 12 runs and Brandon McMullen and Saif Zayeb took 1 wicket each. Stefan Eskinazi scored 37 runs from Gurkhaz. He played 35 balls and hit 5 fours and 1 six. Sumit Maharjan scored 14 runs and Bhim Sarki and Gerhard Erasmus scored 10 runs. Michael Levitt 5, Shankar Rana 3, Rashid Khan 2, Prateek Shrestha 8 and captain Karan Casey were out for runs. 

After losing the toss, Sudurpaschim was invited to bat and scored 167 runs after losing 6 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. In the middle order, captain Dipendrasinh Airi scored 43 runs off 25 balls and led Sudurpaschim to a good score.

He hit 3 fours and 2 sixes. Dipendra played an aggressive innings on the foundation of Scottish player McMullen's half-century. McMullen scored 53 runs off 36 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes. Opener Saif Zaib got out scoring 11 runs in 9 balls with 1 boundary. Another opener Vinod Bhandari scored 35 runs. He played 28 balls and hit 2 fours and a six. Rohan Mustafa 4, Arif Shaikh got out for 3 runs.

Rashid took 2 wickets from Gurkhaz for 20 runs in 4 overs. Shahav Alam, Erasmus and Karan took 1 wicket each.
