Sohail Tanveer took 5 wickets as Chitwan Rhinos beat Kathmandu Gurkhaz by 5 wickets in the first match of the day. After Tanveer's sharp bowling, Chitwan crossed the target of 112 runs by scoring 114 runs in 17.1 overs.
Santosh Karki and Sharad Bheshavkar shared an unbeaten partnership of 43 runs for the sixth wicket. Santosh scored the highest 28 runs of the innings. He hit 2 fours and 1 six off 31 balls and Sharad scored 11 runs off 21 balls.
Hasan Esakhil 12, Deepak Bohra 7, captain Kushal Malla and Ravi Bopara were all dismissed for 11 runs from Chitwan. Luke Benkenstein scored 22 runs off 17 balls with 1 four and 2 sixes. Shahab Alam of Gurkhaz took 3 wickets for 20 runs in 4 overs. Jehrad Erasmus and Dan Douthwaite took 1 wicket each.
Earlier, Gurkhaz, who came into bat after losing the toss for 5 wickets of Tanveer, lost 9 wickets and scored only 111 runs. Tanveer dismissed Stephan Eskinazi, Michael Levitt and Bhim Sarki in his first 3-over spell. Tanvir, who dismissed Gurkhaz captain Karan KC and Shahab for 1 run in his fourth over, spent only 21 runs in 4 overs. Gurkhaj did not have a good start. English opener Eskinazi was dismissed for 2 runs. Another opener Levitt scored 25 runs with 4 fours and 1 six. Kushal bowled Erasmus for 4 runs. Bheem scored only 1 run and got out LBW to Tanveer.
Shankar Rana played 17 balls and scored 16 and Rashid Khan scored 4 runs. Sumit Maharjan scored the highest 29 runs from Gurkhaz. He got out in the 18th over after hitting 1 four in 41 balls. Dan Douthwaite hit 2 fours off 18 balls for 19 and Dipesh Kandel remained unbeaten on 1 run. Chitwan's Rajan Dhakal, Kushal, Amarsingh Rautela and Benkenstein took 1 wicket each.
