Lumbini Lions has signed Canadian player Saad Bin Zafar for Nepal Premier League. Former captain Jaffer led Canada in the ICC T20 World Cup.
Lumbini Lions believes that the international experience and leadership ability will further strengthen its tow. Saad bin Zafar, who was born in Pakistan, made his first-class cricket debut in Canada in 2008. He has consistently represented the national team in all formats.
Jaffer, who made a strong presence on the field with left-arm slow spin bowling and left-arm batting, played for St. Lucia Jokes in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Jaffer has carved a unique place in world cricket. He is the first player to set a record in T20 international matches without conceding a single run in a bowling spell of 4 overs. In the match against Panama in November 2021, he had a record performance of 4-4-0-2, which achievement has been maintained till now.
After playing for Lumbini Lions in the NPL, Jaffer said, 'I want to contribute to the overall Nepali cricket by playing for Lumbini Lions in the Nepal Premier League.' Expressing happiness, he expressed confidence that the all-round ability and experience gained from captaincy will strengthen the team. The NPL will start from November 15 at the Trivi Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. Lumbini Lions' first match will be on November 19 against Biratnagar Kings.
