Siddharth Bank is going to be the main sponsor of Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket. The Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) announced on Friday that Siddharth Bank has been brought in as the main sponsor for the biggest event of Nepali cricket to be held at the Trivi Cricket Ground in Kirtipur from 15th November.
Can and Siddharth Bank have signed a 5-year agreement. According to the agreement, Siddharth Bank will be added before the name of NPL. CAN Secretary Paras Khadka, Siddharth Bank Chairman Manoj Kumar Kedia and Chief Executive Officer Sundar Prasad Kadel displayed the banner of the agreement.
"This is the biggest sponsorship deal in Nepali sports," said CAN Secretary Khadka in a press conference, "saying a five-year deal says a lot." Sponsored football for an annual amount of 150,000 dollars, which is the biggest sponsorship deal of Nepali sports before.
CEO Kadel informed that other financial institutions under Siddharth Bank are also included in this collaboration with NPL. Stating that Siddharth Bank is ready to join hands for the development of Nepali sports, Kadel said that he believes that NPL will give good opportunities to national and international players of Nepal.
President Kedia said, "The way Nepali cricket is developing, our attention has gone to it." We are connected through NPL to make Nepali cricket better.'' Secretary Khadka said that even though the sponsors are result-oriented, Siddharth Bank came because of cricket.
NPL on Star Sports
NPL is going to be shown live by Star Sports. According to CAN Secretary Khadka, an agreement has been signed with Star Sports Network as a 'broadcast partner' for that and it is one of the biggest successes of Nepali cricket.
"Showing NPL on Star Sports was very challenging, it is difficult to show it on Star Sports even after buying the rights," Khadka said, "We wanted to show our cricket to the world". From NPL, our players will now be seen on the international stage . Had there not been an agreement with Star Sports, the best players would not have come and played in the NPL.'
Khadka added, 'We tried a lot to bring Star Sports in.' Our event management company TCM played a very big role . For now, we have to pay a certain amount to Star Sports.'
He said that there is an agreement that 50 percent of the income from the NPL will be distributed to the franchise team.
