12 'A' category players belonging to the national cricket team have got the full price in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket auction. In the player auction held on Sunday, the 'base price' of 10 players out of 27 players in the 'A' category list started from 10 lakhs.
Among them Lokesh Bam and Pratish JC from Biratnagar Kings, Lalit Rajvanshi and Anil Kumar Shah from Janakpur Bolts, Gulshan Jha from Karnali, Shahab Alam and Bhim Sarki from Kathmandu Gurkhas, Surya Tamang, Vivek Yadav and Sandeep Zora from Lumbini Lions, Sagar Dhakal from Pokhara Avengers and Sudurpaschim Royals. 1.5 million was spent on Arif Sheikh.
Almost all of these players were valued by more than one franchise team. Gulshan and Anil were claimed by seven franchise teams out of eight. Lumbini and Karnali were lucky in the lucky draw. Lumbini took 5 out of 8 players from lucky draw.
A franchise team had a provision to spend at least 65 and more than 9 million. The minimum salary of 'A' category players was from 10 lakhs to a maximum of 15 lakhs, 'B' category starting from 5 lakhs to 10 lakhs and 'C' category starting from 2 lakhs to a maximum of 5 lakhs. There was a provision to take 3 players from 'A' category, 4 from 'B' category and 3 from 'C' category. The marquee player has already been decided and each team will be allowed to field one local player. In addition, each team will be allowed to have four foreign players. The price of the marquee player was Rs 20 lakh.
Lumbini spent the most 84 lakh 75 thousand. Lumbini, where Nepali national team captain Rohit Paudel is the 'marquee' player, took Ashutosh Ghiraiya and Tilakraj Bhandari for Rs 10 lakh each and Durgesh Gupta for Rs 8 lakh from the 'B' category. The 'base price' of 'B' category players was 5 lakhs and the maximum was capped at 10 lakhs.
Pokhara spent 80 lakh 50 thousand, Janakpur Bolts 79 lakh 25 thousand, Karnali 74 lakh, Sudurpaschim 74 lakh, Kathmandu 7 million 50 thousand and Biratnagar Kings 66 lakh 50 thousand. Since Chitwan spent only 63 lakhs, the Nepal Cricket Association will have to pay a fine of 2 lakhs. Eight franchise teams spent 59.2 million 50 thousand for a total of 80 players.

Madhesh province captain Harishankar Sah, Karnali province captain Rabindrajung Shahi along with Pradeepsingh Airy, Sunil Dhamala, Prithu Banskota, Lalitsingh Bhandari who have played for the Nepali national team did not fetch any price in the auction. The NPL will be held from November 30 to December 21 at the Trivi Ground in Kirtipur.
