Para swimmer Bhim Bahadur Kumal has made it to the Paris Para Olympics to be held in France. Saroj Shrestha, President of the National Para Swimming Association of Nepal, has informed that Bhima's participation in the Para Olympics has been confirmed after receiving 'vipertight slots' from the World Para Swimming.

Bheem will compete in men's 50m freestyle. He has a national record of 35.01 seconds in this event.

41-year-old Bheem, a resident of Nareshwar Benikhola, Gorkha, has played 4 international tournaments in his career.

He represented Nepal in the 4th Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China, the 3rd Asian Para Games in Indonesia and the World Para Swimming Championship in London in 2019.

The last time he competed in the sport was the World Para Swimming Series, which was also based on Para Olympic selection. May 17 to 19 in Singapore  Bheem set a national record in the 50m freestyle competition. Bhim amputee is also a football player.

Bheem is preparing for the Para Olympics at the West Venue in Kalopul. He is being trained by Wijenman Shrestha.

Bheem has expressed his happiness for being selected for a big competition like Para Olympics and has responded that the struggle has paid off. "I am very happy that I have been selected for a big competition like Para Olympics. I had a lot of pain, effort and struggle for this. It is felt that the results have been achieved,'' said Bhim.

President Shrestha informed that the association has also taken many initiatives for Bhima's Olympic participation.

The participation of three athletes in the Paris Para Olympics along with Bhima has been confirmed. Earlier, Taekwondo's Palesha Gobardhan and Bharat Singh Mahata have been selected. Palesha passed the qualifying stage and secured a place in the Paris Para Olympics. Bharat got a wild card.
