As per the Election Commission's directive to open separate bank accounts for the purpose of spending in the election scheduled for 21 Falgun, six political parties and 733 candidates have so far submitted their account details.
According to the Election Commission, so far, only the Congress, Janata Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Janamorcha, Nepali Communist Party (NCP), NCP (United) and Nepali Party for Nepal have submitted their account details.
There are 3,406 candidates in the fray in the direct election. Of these, only 733 have submitted their details. According to the Election Commission's Assistant Spokesperson Kul Bahadur GC, only 22 percent have reported that they have opened separate accounts for election purposes .
The Election Commission had directed to open separate accounts for transparency and good governance. Most of the party candidates have said that they are preparing to open accounts.
