He posted a photo of himself eating roasted corn at the house of Ganesh Poudel, a martyr of the 2046 BS movement, on Facebook. After the dissolution of the parliament due to the Genji movement of Bhadra 23 and 24, every party has started a wave of promoting the youth in the upcoming Falgun 21 elections according to the spirit of Genji. Meanwhile, Gagan Thapa of the new generation became the president of the Congress through a special general convention. Gurung became a central member from the fourth general convention.

'Even though I am mature in age, I am a person who understands the feelings of the youth. Because I have been contesting elections in Chitwan since I was 21 and have been becoming a people's representative. Therefore, I am aware of the feelings of the voters, the problems of the district and the region, the feelings and desires of the youth,' Gurung said. He said that he did not demand it but became a candidate because the party entrusted him with the responsibility.

Congress has fielded a candidate for the first time in Chitwan-3 after the constitution was promulgated. In the Bharatpur Metropolitan City election, Congress did not field a mayor after forming an alliance with the then Maoist Center twice. In the 2074 House of Representatives election, it supported the candidate of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and in the 2079 election, it supported the candidate of the then Maoist Center.

In the 2048 BS parliamentary elections, there were three constituencies in Chitwan, which later became five constituencies. The current constituency number 3 was sometimes divided into 4 and sometimes 4 and 5. In these constituencies, when seven elections were held between 2048 BS and 2079 BS, Congress candidates won the Constituent Assembly elections of 2051 BS, 2056 BS and 2070 BS.

Born in Syangja in 2005, Gurung has been living in Chitwan since 2017. He was first elected as the ward chairman of Ward 3 of the then Shardanagar Village Panchayat in Baisakh 2026. Then, he was elected as the Pradhan Panchayat in 2029. In the 2035 election, he became the Pradhan Panchayat of Shivnagar.

In 2035, he became the president of the Chitwan District Panchayat. Gurung said that the then government suspended that committee for being pro-democracy during the referendum. In 2039, he was again elected as the president of the District Panchayat. Gurung became the president of the Chitwan District Panchayat for the third time in 2044 BS. Gurung had become a candidate in the 2043 BS National Panchayat member election due to his desire to go from ward to village to district to the central body. Gurung came fifth in the election at that time under the system of electing the two candidates who got the most votes in the first and second places from the entire district. After the introduction of multi-party politics, he became a candidate from the Nepali Congress for the first time in the 2051 BS election. Gurung was the closest competitor in that election. Gurung had been a candidate from the then Constituent Assembly member constituency number 4 in Chitwan in the 2064 BS election. He was the only closest competitor in this too. Gurung, who has been successful in local elections time and again, has not been able to get elected despite being a candidate for the higher level. 'If we unite the Congress, we will come first not only in this area but also in Chitwan.' I have been taking the initiative to understand the problems here and solve them. "My friends in the Congress are happy with my candidacy," Gurung said. He claimed that he is well-known among the new generation and voters because he has been active in politics.

Gurung has also led the Chitwan Congress many times. He also said that he was the president of the Chitwan Congress five times from 2053 BS to 2070 BS. He was a central member in the past. "I hope that I will win the hearts of the voters because I understand everyone's feelings because I have the old experience of being a public representative and am still active in the party," Gurung said.
