They presented the report at the special general convention on Monday.
General Secretary Gagan Thapa has said that they have committed a rebellion by organizing a special general convention. He made this statement while speaking at the closing ceremony of the special general convention at Bhrikutimandap on Tuesday evening. He claimed that questioning the party's internal democracy was in itself a rebellion.
He said, 'This is a rebellion. Asking questions is a rebellion in itself. Keeping silent is like embracing death.'
Thapa says that he did not organize a special general convention because he wanted a post. 'We did not ask questions or organize them because we were eager to become something,' he said.
But he says that it is necessary to change the Congress because factions have formed within the Congress. He mentioned that the current need is for party equality, for the country and for the common people living in the villages.
General Secretary Thapa urged the representatives not to follow the rumors outside. He said, 'There are many rumors being spread outside now. Some have said it is for tickets, some for division of votes, but I am not following the rumors. You should not follow them either. We only accept the approval given by the hall, not from outside. Bishwa Gagan does not need the chairman from the special general convention. A change in policy and leadership is needed.'
He stressed that this special general convention should be concluded in a productive manner. He said, 'You and I have come from such a long way. Now I urge the hall to ensure its rights in a productive manner.'
He had also urged the representatives in the hall to pass the report presented by him and another general secretary, Bishwa Prakash Sharma, with a majority by clapping. Accordingly, the report has been passed with a majority. With this, the closed session has also ended.
