”Friends are also discussing whether some of the problems seen within the party can be resolved through dialogue. That discussion was also necessary. But that discussion will not be resolved even if it goes outside this hall. This is a special general convention and this hall will do it.”
What you should know
Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa has said that only the special general convention hall has the authority to decide on the problems seen within the party.
Addressing the closed session hall of the general convention at Bhrikutimandap on Tuesday, General Secretary Thapa said this. He commented that although the dialogue regarding the disputes within the party is ongoing, it cannot be concluded outside the hall of the general convention. He stated that the party election-related programs have moved forward and made it clear that those programs will not be postponed. He also objected to the rumors that bargaining is being spread within the party regarding ticket distribution. Stating that thousands of representatives have been brainstorming on the issue of party reforms for the past two days, General Secretary Thapa warned against trying to insult them by linking it to the interests of tickets.
‘Friends are also discussing whether some of the problems seen within the party can be resolved through dialogue. That discussion was also necessary. But that discussion cannot be concluded outside this hall. This is a special general convention and this hall will hold it. If the delegates come tomorrow morning and make a decision, the general secretaries should take that decision as the head. Whatever the hall approves, we will accept. Nothing that the hall does not approve is considered. You have been hearing the rumors of tickets all day today. Thousands of friends have come here and have been churning for two days, but an attempt has been made to humiliate them by saying that it is for tickets,' he said, 'This is for division. Even now, no one is trying to understand our point. Neither Gagan Thapa wants the president nor Bishwaprakash Sharma wants the president. We are ready to go to Chakri and sit down and put the party in the right place. For this, let's change the leadership, change the policy. We have been saying time and again that whoever does the leadership for now will do it. Having said all this, we would like to urge you not to take it lightly. The election process has already begun. We will move forward accordingly.'
He reiterated that changes will be made to both the leadership and policies to take the party in the right direction.
