As the election process to select a new leadership from the special general convention of the Nepali Congress officially progresses, elections for the 134-member Central Working Committee are set to be held.

Election Committee Coordinator Sitaram KC said in a press conference that the election will be held as per the old statute. According to him, there will be an election for 121 central members, including 13 office bearers.

According to KC, 2 vice-presidents, 2 general secretaries and 8 joint general secretaries will also be elected from the election. He informed that 35 people will be elected as open central members.

The Central Election Committee of the Special General Convention has made the election program public. In which all the processes from the publication of the voter list to the registration of candidacy are covered.

According to the program, the first voter list has been published at 12:30. Claims and objections to the voter list and an investigation will be conducted from 12:30 to 1:30 in the afternoon. After that, the final voter list will be published at 2 pm and the time for registering nomination papers has been fixed from 2 to 3 pm. According to the election schedule, the first list of candidates will be published today itself in Nepali alphabetical order (Devanagari script). After the claims and objections to the candidacy and its investigation are completed, time will be given to withdraw the candidacy and the final candidate list will be published.

According to the Election Committee, the claims and objections will be investigated by 7 pm. The final list of candidates will be published at 8:45 pm.
