Congress Gandaki Province President Shukraraj Sharma has strongly criticized the leadership, saying that the party has forgotten its fundamental principles and policies.
Speaking at the special general convention of the Nepali Congress in Kathmandu on Saturday, leader Sharma expressed concern over the increasing dominance of communist ideology within the Congress. 'We have abandoned the policy of the Nepali Congress and have introduced communist policy,' Sharma expressed his anger, 'That is why we have become weak. Now the smell of communism has started to come from among us.'
Targeting the alliances formed during the recent elections and government formation, he commented that the Congress was afraid of walking alone. He added, 'Everywhere we go, be it in elections or in government, we cannot walk without carrying communists. This is not a good sign for the Congress.'
President Sharma stressed that the next special general convention should purify the party ideologically. 'The next special general convention should make the Congress free of communists,' he said, 'The main challenge now is to make the party stand on its own feet and follow its own policies.'
