Nepali Congress leader Arjun Narsingh KC has emphasized the need to free the party from its individualistic character and move it towards an institutionalized system.

Addressing the inaugural session of the special general convention at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu, leader KC said that 'newness' and 'transformation' are inevitable in the Congress.

Leader KC opined that the party should be made principled by raising it above the interests of the leader. 'It is necessary to make this party a party of policies, not a party of leaders,' he said. 'This (presence of representatives) is a very big force to make it a party of institutions, not of individuals.' I am confident that this force will give newness to the Congress.'

He said that the 'parikrama' culture revolving around the leadership has weakened the party and that now the evaluation of the cadres should be based on work. 'The Congress to be formed now needs to be transformed into a Congress of parikramaists, not a Congress of every brave person,' he added.
