Of the 64 political parties that submitted closed lists for the proportional representation system for the upcoming House of Representatives elections, only 22 parties have filed candidacies for 110 seats.
In the closed list submitted to the Election Commission on 13 and 14 of this year, only 22 parties have nominated 110 candidates for all 110 seats of the proportional representation. Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said that out of a total of 64 parties, 58 parties have nominated candidates under 58 election symbols.
The political parties that have nominated candidates for all (110) seats are Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), Nepali Communist Party (NCP), National Independent Party, Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, National Janmorcha, Mongolian National Organization, Democratic Socialist Party, Nepal Communist Party (ML), Labor Culture Party, Federal Democratic National Forum, Nepal Sadbhavana Party, Janmat Party, Miteri Party Nepal, Nepal Communist Party (United).
Similarly, there are Nepali Janata Dal, National Democratic Party, Nepal Communist Party (Maoist), and Progressive Democratic Party. Some parties have submitted closed lists for 110 seats by organizing a common election and combining their lists. According to the list, the number of parties running for the average electoral symbol is 60. Similarly, the number of parties submitting closed lists for at least 11 places is 10. Similarly, there are 10 parties that have taken a single symbol.
In the upcoming election of members of the House of Representatives to be held on Falgun 21, parties have filed candidacies based on the percentage of inclusive groups as per the 2078 census. Out of 93 political parties that applied to the commission to run for candidacy in this system, only 64 parties have filed candidacies for the system.

In accordance with the Election of Members of the House of Representatives (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2082, the Government of Nepal has submitted closed lists based on the percentage of the population of Dalit, Indigenous Peoples, Khas Arya, Madhesi, Tharu, and Muslims as per the 2078 census report. The ordinance was issued on Poush 4 after the government recommended to the President to amend Schedule 1 of the Election of Members of the House of Representatives Act, 2074.
Schedule-1 of the Election of Members of the House of Representatives Act, 2074 mentioned the percentage of inclusive groups as per the National Census 2068. Under the proportional electoral system under the House of Representatives to be held on Falgun 21, parties will have to submit closed lists of candidates based on the population of the National Census 2078.
According to the election program for the first elected (direct) candidate, the nomination papers of the candidates will be registered on Magh 6. The program for publishing the list of candidates has been fixed on the same day. The time for filing a complaint against the candidacy has been fixed on Magh 7.
The list of candidates will be published on Magh 8. Similarly, candidates will be able to withdraw their names on Magh 9 and on the same day, the final list of candidates will be published and the election symbol will be given to the candidates.
