The deadline for registering candidacies for the UML leadership election has passed. UML Central Election Commission member Sanuraj Pokharel informed that the work of preparing a list of registered candidates is underway.

‘Candidate nomination registration is over . We will publish the final list of candidates at 8 pm,’ he said . 1,200 people had submitted forms to run for office bearers and central members . 

2,262 delegates are participating in the general convention. The competition for the new leadership is between current chairman KP Sharma Oli and senior vice-chairman Ishwor Pokharel. Earlier, electronic voting machines were also used in the 10th national convention held in Chitwan.
