Nepali Communist Party leader and former minister Dev Prasad Gurung has said that there is no alternative to the unity of communist forces in the country.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the party's 11th general convention held in Sallaghari, Bhaktapur on Saturday, he stressed that unity among all communist forces in Nepal has become a mandatory condition for the country to emerge from the crisis.

Leader Gurung pointed out that the country's nationality has reached the greatest crisis and said that the country needs to move forward with greater unity among communists and cooperation among democratic patriotic forces to overcome it.

'Once again, there is no alternative to the unification of communists.  There is no alternative to the unity of the leftists.  There is no alternative to the unity of communists, the unity of the leftists, as well as cooperation with all democratic, patriotic nationalist forces to protect democracy, protect the country's nationality and achieve economic and social transformation.  Therefore, the unification of communists is a mandatory condition for cooperation among all forces,' he said.

He also expressed confidence that the Nepali Communist Party has launched a unity campaign with all communist forces to build the foundation of socialism and that the UML General Convention will also move forward by passing the same resolution. He said, 'In this context, I am confident that the General Convention here will also succeed in taking important decisions for the unification of the future communist party.'

Leader Gurung also expressed the view that it is possible to move forward by unifying the communist parties of Nepal based on the guidelines of Marxism-Leninism.
