While the Government of Nepal is preparing the budget for the fiscal year 2081/082 to be presented on May 15, an international investment conference is being held in Kathmandu on May 16 and 17 in collaboration with the Board of Investment Nepal. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Minister of Finance, Ministers and officials of related agencies are busy preparing to make the investment conference worthwhile.
Finance Minister Barshman Pune, who is currently on a visit to America, is returning to Nepal after discussing with the investors there. The government is preparing to bring an ordinance as the law will not be amended by the parliament for a comfortable environment for investment. More than 462 investors from 36 countries including India, China, America, and Japan have been confirmed to participate in the investment conference, while more than 140 projects are ready to be launched.
This time investment is expected to be 9 billion rupees. The government should also prepare a proper environment for investment so that the upcoming conference can ensure as much investment as possible while the investment is not coming in as per the commitment of foreign investors.
