The number of passengers leaving the Kathmandu Valley is increasing in view of the upcoming House of Representatives elections on Thursday. The general public is leaving the Valley to vote in their home districts on election day.

Deputy Superintendent of Traffic Police Sunil Jung Shah informed that more than 750,000 people have left the Valley so far. 'The process of leaving the Valley for the elections will continue until Wednesday,' he said, 'Public transport is packed, while the movement of private vehicles has also increased significantly.'

With the increase in passenger traffic, long queues of vehicles have been seen on the main highways, bus parks and exit points from the Valley. According to Shah, the manpower of the Traffic Police has been increased to make the transportation system more safe and organized.

'Additional traffic police have been deployed in areas with high vehicle traffic, and surveillance has been increased in coordination with nearby police units to manage vehicle traffic as needed,' Traffic Police Deputy Superintendent Shah said, 'The police team deployed for election security is also providing necessary assistance in traffic management.'

The police have increased patrols on highways, prioritizing the safety of passengers, and special surveillance has been carried out in areas as needed. The traffic police have urged the general public to travel safely and responsibly, not to carry more passengers than their capacity, and to follow traffic rules. In addition, it has been suggested to check the condition of vehicles while traveling long distances and to travel only after getting information about road conditions.
