The Election Commission has stated that only 1,986 candidates out of 3,406 direct candidates who registered their candidacies in the House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21 have opened bank accounts.

The parties that have opened accounts so far include the Nepali Congress, Rastriya Janamorcha, CPN-Unified, Nepali Communist Party (NCP), Nepali Party for Nepal, Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP), Samyukta Nagarik Party, Miteri Party, Nepal Janata Sankaran Party, Nepal Mazdoor Kisan Party and Rastriya Janamukti Party, informed the Commission's Assistant Spokesperson Sita Pun Shree.
Arrangements have been made to open bank accounts for transparency of financial assistance received by political parties and candidates in the elections, compliance with the expenditure limits prescribed by the election law, and effective monitoring.
According to the House of Representatives Member Election Campaign Bank Account (Operation and Management) Procedure, 2082, all political parties, party candidates and independent candidates who have registered with the Commission for the purpose of participating in the House of Representatives Member Election, 2082 and have filed their candidacies for the proportional and first past the post electoral system, as per the procedure, it has been arranged that the income and expenditure transactions made by receiving financial support for the election campaign will be conducted through the same account. The parties and candidates have opened accounts in accordance with this procedure.
