Chairman of Roshi Rural Municipality, Dinesh Lama, informed that the continuous rain on Saturday caused further damage to the diversion made temporarily in Namobuddha Municipality and Roshi Rural Municipality border area from Chowkidanda to Boksekuna, Ghumwane, Dalabensi, Piple, Mamti.

Due to the flood in Roshi River, electricity service has been completely disrupted in all the 12 wards of Roshi Rural Municipality, said Lama, Chairman of Roshi Rural Municipality. According to him, it is not possible to resume electricity service immediately because the Roshi Khola has blocked the road networks. Similarly, he informed that the communication service was also disrupted.
The 54 km and Khawa road sections of the Araniko highway connecting Nepal and China were blocked by landslides. Chief District Officer Umesh Kumar Dhakal informed that now the landslide has been removed and the traffic on the highway has been resumed.
According to him, traffic has been resumed in Sanga, which is the border area of Kavre and Bhaktapur districts. He informed that currently BP highway is completely blocked and Arani highway is not blocked at all.
Towards the destination on foot
58-year-old Rajkumar Shrestha of Jhangajhuli in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality of Sindhuli returned home from Kathmandu on Saturday. The police sent the vehicle he was riding in back to Kathmandu from Kavrevanjang saying that the BP highway was blocked. He had anticipated that it would take a long time to open the highway. Because of that, Sindhuli left Kathmandu at 9 am on Sunday morning.
By Bhakunde he arrived by bus. As the highway was blocked, he decided to walk the way forward from Bhakunde. The road from Bhakunde to Chowkidanda was not that difficult. He said that although small landslides occurred in some places, it was not uncomfortable to walk. However, from Chowkidanda, there is no way to go on foot.

In October of last year, the flood that occurred in the Roshi river completely damaged about 9 kilometers of the Nepalthok road section from Chowkidanda on the highway. He said that it will take half an hour to reach Katunjebensi through a steep and uphill road. "After walking at 9 o'clock in the morning, we reached Chowkidanda at 3 o'clock," he said. "I had to see how to live in Kathmandu until those days, how to live in the house," Rajkumar said, "If I walk, I think that I will be able to reach till Monday, I will reach Mangaltar on Sunday evening and stay, and tomorrow I will be there."
She reached Mait Raghuchaur on Friday itself. She thought that she would return home after the rain stopped since Saturday. However, the rain stopped only on Sunday. Even the means of transport to return home were not in operation. Due to continuous rain on Saturday, the BP highway was blocked. She decided to come by walking for 1 hour. "Sometimes it was uphill and sometimes downhill, sometimes it was a long way to get here," she said. People returning from Ramechhap, Okhaldhunga, Khotang, Udaipur, Solukhumbu and other districts are using Pushpalal Marg.
From Saturday afternoon, instead of the BP highway, vehicles have started using the Pushpalal route to take passengers to the capital. Dolakha Deputy Superintendent of Police Gyan Kumar Mahato said that more than 300 vehicles that came in the continuous rain were stopped at Charikot and allowed to go to their destination on Sunday morning.
He informed that the vehicle was left on Sunday morning after understanding the condition of Arani's highway. "After the BP highway said that it could not be put into operation immediately, Pushpalal Marg has been used," he said. He informed that driving of non-essential vehicles has been banned from 5 pm to 5 am due to traffic congestion and risk. "It has been decided to close the highway at night," he said. Mahto said that the risk remains in that area. Lamosanghu-Jiri road and Araniko highway are connected by Pushpalal Marg through Manthali in Ramechhap. Before the opening of the BP highway, the locals used to travel through this road.
BP highway is operational from Bardibas to near Khurkot in Sindhuli. After a journey of 18 km from Khurkot, one reaches Charikot via the 54 km Pushpalal Marg via Manthali in Ramechhap. After crossing 133 km from Charikot, you can reach Kathmandu. The road is black. One has to travel 315 km to reach the capital using this alternative route from Bardibas. When the Nagadhunga-Muglin-Narayangadh road is blocked, this road connects to the Araniko highway from Charikot under the Lamosanghu-Jiri road via Pushpalal Marg via BP Highway.
Similarly, after the Solu Dudhkunda Municipality of Solukhumbu removed the obstruction of the unpaved road that was blocked in places, the small vehicles in that area have been operating alternatively through Salleri-Jiri road since Saturday. Small jeeps from that region have started going directly to the capital via Salleri-Lamosanghu-Jiri-Charikot.
As soon as the long-distance vehicles reach the capital, they return to pick up passengers, so the transporters have been requested to have two drivers, said Bhola Dahal, chief district officer of Dolakha. He said that since the Tamakoshi river has cut the road where large vehicles arrive in Kirnetar, they have been asked to allow the operation from the road inside the Khimti Hydropower Center for a few days.
The Kalidah road section under Pushpa Lal Marg was repaired and put into operation, so there is no highway obstruction anywhere, he said. "We went to the field and checked all the conditions of the highway in our area, and there was no problem anywhere," he said, "for now, we have opened this route as it is safer to travel on the BP highway, and we have mobilized police patrols on the highway for the safety of passengers and vehicles." Pushpalal Marg was used as an alternative after the BP highway was swept away by the floods of October 12 last year.
Dahal said that transport businessmen have also been asked to take economical fares. "We have asked the public transport to take economical fares because the short-distance highway is blocked, so we have asked them to take economical fares," he said.
Vigilance on the highway in Chitwan till Monday
Even though the incessant rain has stopped and the landslides in the highway area have been removed, traffic will be operated with caution on the highway that passes through Chitwan and passes through Kathmandu and Pokhara till Monday. The vehicles stopped at Chitwan due to the landslide started moving towards their destination from Sunday noon.
The main roads connecting Kathmandu and Pokhara with the eastern and western parts of the country, the Narayangadh-Muglin road and the Prithvi highway were impassable due to landslides and rockfalls. The Narayangadh-Muglin road was closed due to landslides and rock falls in Tuin Khola and Kali Khola. Similarly, a landslide occurred in the Chitwan section of Prithvi Highway. Traffic was affected on these two road sections till mid-day on Saturday and Sunday due to landslides.

Spokesperson of Chitwan District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ravindra Khanal said that the decision was made not to drive vehicles on Sunday night as the forecast was made public that there was a possibility of rain and risk till Monday.
He said that all the vehicles passing through Chitwan should be outside by 6 pm on Sunday. According to DSP Khanal, the vehicles that are coming to and from Chitwan after this time will be kept in a safe place outside the landslide-affected area in the 'Safety Holding Space'. He also said that further decisions will be made regarding the operation of the vehicle based on the weather conditions.
Similarly, vehicle operation has been banned on the road section of Dhading after 9 pm. Keeping in view the possible occurrence of floods and landslides, the District Security Committee has decided to stop the entry of vehicles from outside the district from 9 pm.
Dhading Chief District Officer Vijayraj Subedi said that it has been decided to stop vehicles leaving Kathmandu from Nagadhunga, Goldhunga and other points to enter Dhading via Prithvi Highway and Tribhuvan Rajpath and vehicles entering from other districts via Mauwa river in Chitwan. At night, emergency vehicles such as ambulances, fire engines, security personnel will be allowed to enter with the permission of the security personnel.
Prohibition of night traffic on Khurkot-Manthali-Khimti-Milti road
District administration office Ramechhap has prohibited night traffic on the Khurkot-Manthali-Khimti-Milti road section after incessant rain has increased the risk on the road. According to the administration, vehicle operation has been banned from 19 to 24 October from 5 pm to 5 am every day.
According to the administration, all types of public and private passenger vehicles will not be allowed to operate except for ambulances and emergency service vehicles during that period. Chief District Officer Shyamakrishna Thapa apologized for the inconvenience caused to the passengers and asked everyone to be cautious and give priority to safety.
Asian highway blocked
The flood has washed away the Kali Khola diversion located at Mechinagar-6 and the Bhalu Khola diversion located at Shivasatakshi-10 of the under-construction Asian Highway Kakdavitta-Laukhi Road Planning Office (East Section) under the East-West Highway. Because of this, traffic on the highway has been completely blocked.
Kali Khola had flowed diversions before. While the old concrete bridge was being demolished and the new bridge was being constructed, the traffic was being operated through temporary diversion. But the flood after Saturday night's Arighopte rain caused damage.
The eastern section of the Asian Highway is being upgraded at a cost of around 10 billion rupees with the help of the Asian Development Bank. Evraskan-Kalika JV has been constructing under contract. The project office said that if there is a problem on the highway during the rainy season, arrangements have been made to solve it immediately by deploying a 'rapid response team'.
Under the southern road section connecting Jhapa to Mahakali, the Hulaki road has also been washed away. The traffic movement has been completely blocked after the Hulaki road was washed away. According to the District Police Office, Jhapa, due to continuous rains, around 200 houses near Hulaki Road have been flooded after the water level in Mai River and surrounding small streams has risen.
