The government offices that were damaged in the demonstrations that broke out across the country the next day in protest against the police suppression of the protests called by Gen-G on August 23 in Kathmandu and other places are trying to be strengthened. Government services have been brought into operation in some places due to the activism of the local people for the re-operation of the offices destroyed by vandalism and arson, while in some places, urgent work has been started from the remaining structures.
On August 24, the structures worth billions were razed to ashes in one day by protesters in Koshi province. Arson and looting also took place in the demonstration that spread to Jhapa, Sunsari, Ilam and the eastern hills. These offices of the province are gradually shrinking. After the destruction of the physical structure, some have resumed service from a room that was left and some from a rented room.
The biggest blow from the protesters was on the State Assembly Secretariat. Where the documents, equipment, buildings and assembly halls that were historical witnesses of democratic practice were reduced to ashes. The building was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister Bhim Acharya on October 20, 2078. It was made at a cost of about 5 crores more. "There is nothing left except concrete structures and iron," said Niroj Dhakal, Information Officer of the Provincial Secretariat. Demonstrators also targeted the Ministry, district administration, court, customs office and local level buildings including the Chief Minister's office in Koshi. There was no damage to the office of the provincial head.
State Assembly Secretariat now looks like a symbol of state reconstruction . The completely burnt assembly hall is still standing with the smell of black smoke . But the small "media center" of the parliamentary press platform on the west side of it has now become a temporary center of parliamentary activities.
Although there was a fire in this building, it did not burn completely . Currently, the state assembly is carrying out work in this partially damaged building.
The staff cleaned the room, the technician connected the electricity and internet, and connected the salvaged computers and started preparing the documents . Gautam Raj Amatya, Acting Secretary of the Secretariat, says, "After the office was destroyed by fire, we have temporarily started working from this room."
After the provincial secretariat, the most damaged structure is the Chief Minister and Cabinet office. According to the top officials of the state government, administrative files, digital records, meeting rooms, office vehicles were all burnt down. However, like the secretariat, an emergency alternative working room is also being prepared here . Other ministries have also started work by renting temporary rooms near the burnt offices or in the remaining parts . In the districts of Jhapa, Sunsari, Morang, Ilam, etc., the service was not stopped even after the burning of the administrative building. Chief Secretary Chandrakala Paudel, while presenting the preliminary details of the entire province, said that 42 government buildings were damaged. Out of which 18 buildings are completely damaged and 24 buildings are partially damaged.
According to the provincial government data, during the protest, 237 Government vehicles have been damaged. Of these 75 four-wheelers, 64 were completely burnt and 11 were partially damaged. Out of 161 motorcycles, 144 were completely burnt. Chief Secretary Poudel said that the details of the damage in the entire province are being collected rapidly and the full details will be available soon.
Government offices in Siraha are getting up
During the August 24 demonstration, 41 government offices were vandalized, looted and set on fire in Siraha alone. In which there were 16 police offices. Local level offices which are considered close to the common people were also extensively damaged. Out of the 17 local levels of vandalism and arson, 10 have been completely damaged and 2 partially damaged.
According to District Administration Office, Siraha, more than one billion worth of material property has been damaged in one day across the district. The district administration issued a notification on August 26 and directed the offices across the district to coordinate, facilitate and cooperate as much as possible from the 29th. From October 2, the district administration is starting full service .
The Chief District Officer of Siraha, Basant Adhikari, said that other offices in the district are also increasing the range of service delivery. Likewise, all the police offices that were displaced during the demonstration have resumed operations. Prazia officer said that the locals welcomed the police and returned to the office, feeling insecure as there was no police. Along with this, the activities that have been stopped throughout the district are slowly returning to normal life, he said. "After the movement, there was a state of confusion, but we tried to start with what we had and get up," Prazia Adhikari said. We are about to return to the old position . We expect everyone's support in this.'
The district administration issued a notification on August 27 and warned that the identity of those who looted during the protest was clearly visible on social media, to return the looted materials and if not, action would be taken according to prevailing laws. However, although the materials looted from the food institute in Lahan are being returned, the official requested that they be returned saying that there was not much return from other places. Pragya officer informed that investigation is being conducted by collecting photos and videos of those involved in the act of damaging public property due to political and personal grievances in the name of the movement.

It is mentioned in the details of the district administration office that the protestors set fire to the Banepa area police station, the district traffic police station and the Panchkhaal police station.
After losing the shelter of the policemen due to arson and vandalism, efforts are being made to operate the service with the help of the locals. According to Sunil Dhanju, Chief Police Inspector of District Traffic Police Office, Kavre, the traffic police are providing services from the road during the day, while the locals have facilitated the management of the residences at night.
