The flood that came after the 'cloud burst' in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, India has caused great damage. After the heavy rains, the flood in the Kheerganga river has created havoc in the Dharali market on the Gangotri route.
According to Indian time, many houses in Dharali market were buried in Gegran and some houses were washed away due to the flood that occurred at 1:30 PM on Tuesday. DM Prashant Arya has informed that 4 people have died in the flood till 5 pm, Indian media has mentioned.
According to Uttarkashi Deputy Superintendent of Police Janak Pawar, there was a 'cloud burst' in 3 places around Dharali. Gangotrimarg has also been blocked due to 'cloud burst' on Tuesday afternoon.
"First of all there was a cloud burst in Dharali, then there was a cloud burst in two other places around," Pawar said, "The rescue team could not reach the spot due to road blockage."
According to Pawar, a team of army and police along with Uttarakashi DM Prashant Arya went for search and rescue but could not reach the spot.
It is estimated that many houses in Dharali market have been swept away by the flood. According to him, it has been raining regularly for two days.
