The Flood Forecasting Division of the Department of Water and Meteorology has said that a study has been started to find out the cause of the flood that occurred in Rasuwa (Bhotekoshi) on Tuesday.

Chief of Flood Forecasting Division Vinod Parajuli mentioned that there are many snow lakes in the Tibetan area of Bhotekoshi watershed and informed that the process of studying the satellite images has been started to find out the possible cause of the flood that occurred on Tuesday and to find out how it has affected the river bank.

He has claimed that based on the information given by water and weather centers and preliminary observations, it does not appear that the flood of Bhotekoshi was caused by heavy rain.

He said, 'The Canjing weather station near China in Nepal and the station in Dhunche have shown that it has rained heavily. The weather radar in Palpa did not show rain in the border area of Rasuwa. According to the satellite-based rainfall estimates of the World Meteorological Organization's guidance system, it does not appear that there has been a flood due to rain in the Bhotekosi Lajadhar area due to the lack of rain in the last 24 hours.'

This morning around 3 o'clock in the morning, there was a sudden flood in Bhotekoshi river from Tibet . He also said that the water level has increased by three and a half meters in Timure of Rasuwa.

He informed that Bhotekoshi and Trishuli riverbanks in Rasuwa were heavily affected, moderate in Nuwakot and moderate in Dhading up to Benighat. He requested everyone to be careful even though the flood is receding.

So far, 64 vehicles including cargo vehicles have been washed away due to the flood. Fifty-five people have been rescued and moved to a safe place. Seven people have died and 18 people are missing.
