Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has suggested that Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar should resign on moral grounds to pave the way for investigation.
Talking to mediapersons at Biratnagar Airport on Saturday, leader Koirala said that it would be appropriate to resign on the basis of ethics after the issue of corruption was raised.
They mentioned that some ministers who had raised the issue of corruption in the past had resigned and helped in the investigation and suggested the Home Minister to help the investigation by resigning.
He said that after the issue of his involvement in the immigration visit visa issue was raised, an investigation is also necessary to prove himself right.
He said, 'This is not a new thing. If so, even on moral ground, he would have said 'Let me leave, investigate'. This is normal. There is also a thing called ethics in politics. The issue has come. Even if he is not involved, it is necessary to investigate to show that he is clean after the issue.'
The Ministry of Home Affairs has also been involved in the case of extortion of money from the youth going on a visit visa through Tribhuvan International Airport. The Authority Abuse Investigation Commission has started an investigation on this issue by arresting the Chief Joint Secretary of the Airport Immigration Office, Tirtharaj Bhattarai.
