Patricia Fernandez Pacheco, UN Women's Nepal Representative, said that Nepali women's earnings are two-thirds less than men's.
She said this at the fifth edition of the 'Nirvik Nari: Nari Shakti' program organized by Kantipur Media Group's Nari Magazine on Wednesday.
Patche said that because the level of social and economic status of Nepali women has not been raised, their involvement in outside work has decreased. 90 percent of women are engaged in informal work. Most of the women are in non-financial jobs. Women's earnings are two-thirds less than men's, she said, only 11 percent of women are e-commerce users.
Similarly, she said that problems like child marriage, unequal access to education, and untouchability have hindered women's progress. She said that the ladder used by women was broken.
