In order to draw the attention of the world community to the challenges faced by Nepal due to climate change, the government has informed that it is going to organize the Everest Dialogue.
President Ramchandra Paudel while reading the government's policy and program for the coming financial year 2082/83 at the joint meeting of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly on Friday said that the Everest Dialogue will be held from June 2 to 4.
"Based on the views expressed in the said dialogue, climate adaptation and impact mitigation programs will be implemented," he said, "access to the international financial mechanism related to climate will be increased." A climate finance operational strategy and carbon trading regulations will be formulated.
He said that a long-term strategy will be implemented to fulfill Nepal's commitment to become a country with zero carbon emissions by 2045, Nepal's access to climate finance funds, development of new technologies, private sector investment and economic productivity will be mobilized.
"Botanical garden management and herbal resources will be protected, developed and utilized," President Paudel said, "Legal arrangements will be made for cooperation between the three levels of government in the extraction of river resources, livestock and trade."
