Earthquake Memorial Day is being celebrated today

According to the National Earthquake Measurement and Research Center, an earthquake of magnitude 4.2 occurred at 7:34 PM on Thursday evening. The earthquake centered at Ranmamaikot, east of Rukum, is the latest in a series of earthquakes in western Nepal.

An earthquake of a normal nature occurred in Rukmupurva on the day before the Earthquake Memorial Day was to be celebrated. 

In recent days, small earthquakes have been happening continuously in western Nepal. On 17 November 2080, an earthquake of magnitude 6.4 occurred with Barekot in Jajarkot as its epicenter. Even after that, earthquakes are continuously occurring in different places of Jajarkot. 

today on May 12th. On 12th Baisakh 2072, that is exactly 10 years ago today, the earthquake with the epicenter of Barpak in Gorkha caused huge loss of human wealth. 

Eight thousand nine hundred and seventy-nine people lost their lives in the 7.6 magnitude earthquake. 22 thousand 309 were injured in that earthquake. Various programs have been organized today in commemoration of the same devastating earthquake. Earthquake Memorial Day is being celebrated today with the aim of creating awareness for building safe infrastructure.

A special program of Earthquake Memorial Day has been organized today at Dharahara complex located in Sundhara, Kathmandu. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will be the chief guest at the event. Earthquake Memorial Day is to be celebrated to convey the message of 'build safe infrastructure, avoid earthquakes'.
