Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that he will issue a new education law. Addressing the protesting teachers, Prime Minister Oli said that the government will solve the problem at the awakening meeting organized by UML Lumbini province in Butwal on Friday.

"Teacher friends are in agitation, you also have difficulties and problems, this government has been formed to solve those difficulties and problems," he said, "The law has been stalled for a long time, we have said that we will bring it, problems will not be solved by emotions, we will bring laws and laws at the appropriate time to benefit the nation and solve all problems in an orderly manner."

The teachers have been on street protest since March 20, and have announced a nationwide educational strike since Monday.

However, the Federation of Teachers issued a statement saying that the agreement reached in the past would only come from the government agency with the approval of the Cabinet and the commitment to issue the School Education Act. Even now, rather than negotiating and agreeing, the main demand of the school education act is to be promulgated, the federation said.
