The Election Commission has instructed the concerned municipalities to make proper arrangements for the basic physical infrastructure at the polling stations and centers established at the local level where the by-elections will be held. The meeting held on Monday of the Commission has directed to make drinking water, toilets, electricity, communication, alternative routes as well as senior citizen, women and disabled friendly at the polling station.
By-elections are being held on November 16 for district coordination committee head 2, municipality head and deputy head and village head and village head 8 and 34 ward presidents. According to the commission, 410 people are in the electoral fray for those posts. According to the Election Commission, 84 people have registered their candidacies for the vacant 8 rural municipality chairman and vice chairman and municipal chief and deputy chief.
The commission has requested that the institutions owned or controlled by the federal and state governments or local level infrastructure and physical facilities, auditoriums and guest houses, vehicles and other electrical equipment be repaired and used as needed for the by-elections. The commission also requests that the details of the employees who can be deployed for the by-elections be updated and made available immediately when required for election purposes.
The spokesperson of the commission, Nita Pokharel Aryal, informed that the local level has been instructed to make arrangements for regular and reliable transportation to the election officer's office. The Commission has requested that the roads and other physical infrastructures leading to the polling stations and polling stations should be repaired and prepared on a priority basis from the local level.

The commission has instructed the by-elections to adopt appropriate security arrangements to operate and manage public transport. On the same day after the voting is over, the ballot boxes with the ballots are to be safely transported to the polling station and the necessary security arrangements have been made. The commission has also instructed to ensure full compliance of the code of conduct during the by-election campaigning ban period, to approve the compliance of the code of conduct and to take immediate action if prohibited acts are/are found to have been committed.
