The Election Commission has instructed the relevant local level to make proper arrangements for the basic physical infrastructure in the polling stations/centres established at the local level where by-elections will be held.

The meeting held on Monday of the Commission has instructed to make drinking water, toilets, electricity, communication, alternative routes of movement as well as senior citizen, women and disabled friendly at the polling place. 

The commission has requested that the institutions owned or controlled by the federal government and the state government or the local level infrastructure and physical facilities, auditoriums and guest houses, vehicles and other electrical equipment be repaired and used as needed for the by-elections.

The commission also requests to update the details of the employees who can be deployed for the by-elections and make them available immediately when required for election purposes. 

Commission spokesperson Nita Pokharel Aryal informed that the local level has been instructed to make arrangements for regular and reliable transportation to the election officer's office. 

The Commission has requested that the roads and other physical infrastructure leading to the polling place and the polling station should be maintained and prepared on a priority basis from the local level.

An instruction has been given to completely prohibit the use of land, buildings, furniture or means of transport of any institution or body owned or controlled by the local level or operated with a grant or community school.
