Nepal is going to prominently raise the issue of underdeveloped countries in the issue of climate finance in the 29th Conference of the Parties to the International United Nations Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) (COP-29) in 2024.
In the '29th Climate Conference and Nepal's Access to Climate Finance: Suggestions from Civil Society' program organized by Rural Reconstruction Organization of Nepal (RRN) on Wednesday, Minister of Forests and Environment Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri discussed climate change adaptation losses and climate finance in COP-29 as major issues for underdeveloped countries. 'In the conference, the issues of climate finance, technology and transferability development will be raised as major issues for underdeveloped countries,' he said, 'The issues raised by Nepal in the COP-28 and earlier years in the World Climate Conference and other international forums will be covered. is .'
He also informed that Nepal has prepared a position for COP-29 to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan from November 26th to November 7th based on the suggestions of experts obtained from discussions, workshops and interactions with various stakeholders.
President Ramchandra Paudel will lead Nepal in COP-29. In which Forest Minister Thakuri will also participate. In the event, Minister Thakuri also said that Nepal aims to reduce carbon emissions to zero by 2045.

program, the Chairperson of the Sustainable Development, Economic Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the National Assembly, Kamaladevi Pant, stressed that even though Nepal has a negligible role in carbon emissions, since it is facing climate change, the government should effectively present itself for climate justice.
Likewise, Shivraj Adhikari, Vice President of the National Planning Commission, said that it is irrelevant to put conditions on conditions to provide climate finance to Nepal. Minister Shahi's personal advisor Madhav Bahadur Karki, who was the main speaker of the
program, said that countries like Nepal are currently in climate crisis and there is a possibility that they may reach the stage of climate emergency.
