It has been recommended to give an immediate grant of 50 million to 10 million rupees from the federal government for relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction to the 71 local level disaster-affected families that have been declared disaster-prone areas.
The meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority on Thursday recommended providing the grant to 71 local levels that have been declared disaster-prone.
The meeting of the executive committee chaired by the Home Minister Ramesh Alekhar, out of the 71 local levels declared as disaster-prone, provided a subsidy of Rs 1-1 crore to the most affected 9 local levels, Rs 75 lakh to the most affected 12 local levels and Rs 50 lakh to the rest of the 50 disaster-affected local levels. The spokesperson of the recommended authority, Dr. Dijan Bhattarai, informed.
According to him, the proposal will now be taken to the National Disaster Management Council meeting. The meeting of the National Council chaired by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is being held on Friday. According to
spokesperson Bhattarai, the local level will be able to use the funds to remove the common obstacles to essential services, to purchase food and tripal items needed for relief and rescue. The
meeting has also decided to arrange the necessary budget to purchase additional helicopters and equipment for disaster rescue. Also, to arrange free health insurance for the families of those who died in disasters, disaster risk reduction to arrange free health insurance and It has also decided to request the government through the National Management Council. Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel and Federal Affairs and General Administration Minister Rajkumar Gupta also participated in the
meeting. Due to the heavy rains and landslides that occurred on October 11th and 12th, there was a huge loss of life and property across the country, including the Kathmandu Valley. The government had declared the 71 local levels affected by the disaster as disaster-prone areas only last week.
